The golf course sits on 83 acres and in the heart of Jax Beach. Renovated in 2018 and re-opened November 10, 2018 this hidden gem has come back to life like never before. Paspalum green complexes and approaches provide surfaces not seen in many places in the south. This “Bent Grass” of the south has no grain and puts fast and true. On the approaches the ball sits up like it’s on a tee, but the stickiness of this grass sometimes makes a simple bump and run shot end up short. The set up for this par 71 at 6,750 yards does not sound intimidating but even after 6 months of being open with PGA Tour players and professionals alike from all over, 4 under par was the best score shot from the gold tees. This true muni has seen the likes from PGA Tour players to the average joe and has held over 65,000 rounds annually since our re-opening. With conditions rarely seen at municipalities combined with low rates, Jax Beach prides itself on offering a very unique product that anyone can play. With four very stout par 3’s combined with three difficult par 5’s this golf course with the right wind can play very tough. Jax Beach Golf Club is very proud of the product that we are offering for anyone to play and we are planning on improving every year while still offering very competitive rates. The fun vibe and culture of golf at its grass roots is something special and something that Jax Beach will pride itself on always having.
#1-With a forced water carry along the left side this opening hole is as daunting as it is pleasing to the eye. A well placed tee shot will leave a short iron into this green that generously slopes from back to front with a ridge in the middle. A great opening hole to get started on the right track.
#2-The first of 3 long par 5’s starts with OB left and water on the right. The pond directly to right is actually saltwater and has saltwater marine life in it, on occasion you will spot salt water mullet jumping and escaping red fish. Drive the ball in the fairway and you might have a chance at par. The green slopes from front to back so a precise shot is required to hit this undulating green that is well protected by bunkers on both the right and left side.
#3-A very deceptively difficult hole. This is a very straight and short par four that people find a great deal of difficulty in finding this green. Hitting the fairway is imperative. If you miss a little right or a little left and you will be blocked out by trees and as this green is well protected by bunkers running the ball up is a tall task. A very undulating green sloping back to front and right to left, you need to be sure to have an uphill putt if you want a good score here.
#4- The first of 4 picturesque par 3’s. The green slopes back toward the fairway away from the tee. It has a sand trap on the front left of the green and another on the right. Because of the slope and undulations there is a high degree of difficulty, based on hole placement. A pin tucked in the back left can easily be accessed by hitting the ball in the middle of the green and allowing it to naturally feed back left with the slope of the green.
# 5- Par 4 dogleg left to right into the green that is set up with an elevated green. Hitting this tee shot left center is ideal as trees guard the right side of the fairway. Missing this tee shot on the right will leave you in jail. If you hit the fairway you will have a short to mid iron into this raised green with plenty of undulations for fun pin positions.
#6- A short par 4 that is a straight drive to the green. There are bunkers, 2 on the left side of the fairway and one near the green on the front left. The green slopes down toward the front of the green severely from right to left with a back right table top that you can expect to see a pin on. Hit this fairway, avoid the bunkers and a short iron will give you the best chance at par that you will have the rest of the day.
#7-This dog leg left with hills & tall trees on the left is a fun hole! Long hitters may want to cut this corner but may think twice due to the trees guarding the entire left side of this 90 degree turn. Ideally hit your tee shot right center of the fairway and have a short to mid-iron into this very tricky green.
#8-Water on both left & right side of this hole along with a bunker in the middle require a precise driver. The front of this green is receptive to short iron shots, but if you see this pin in the back do not attempt to land this ball in the back as it is guaranteed to hop over and potentially find the water long of this green. This green also slopes left to right and usually breaks more than what you see.
#9-The second par three on the front nine. This hole as a bunker short and right that seems to grab most tee shots. This is one of the largest greens on the golf course and again pretty firm. This green slopes back to front and no matter where you are putting from, there will always be a break!
#10- Grip it and rip it from tee box. Play a slight cut if you can as you want to be on right side of fairway for the best angle to all pin locations. The green slopes front to back and right to left with water guarding the left side of this bulk headed green. This green is always firm so be sure to hit it about 20 feet short as the ball will release due to the slope of the green.
#11- Water guards the entire left side of this hole and natural area on the right. The fairway is fairly wide but still an intimidating tee shot. The green slopes from right to left and any pin on the left side is better accessed by missing the green to the left than it is by missing the green to the right due to the severe slope. Back pin locations are difficult to get to and need to use one more club.
#12- The predominant wind is usually in your face. If the pin is in front go for it, there is a backstop. The green has a ridge that separates the front from the back. If the pin is in the back a very high shot is required to land on the back and stay there. A very scenic hole from the tee that includes a bunker short and right with a palm tree between the bunker and the back part of the green so be careful if you miss this green left.
#13-The longest hole on the golf course offers water along the left side and a ditch to contend with on your approach to the green. Unless the wind is behind you and you are a long hitter this is a true 3 shot hole. The approach to this elevated green can be tricky. A front pin location you can go for with a back to front sloping front half of the green, but any pin in the back plateau you need to careful with as there is water over the green.
#14-A picturesque tee shot to a half island green bulk headed all around. This somewhat downhill hole has a firm green especially on the back half of it. Balls hitting the back of this green can easily release into the water over the green. A small bunker on the left side between the green and the waters offers some relief to shots tugged a little left. A miss short and right will have an uphill chip with a good chance to get up and down.
#15-This is perhaps the most underrated hole in the country. There is nothing intimidating about the tee shot , or the approach but very few ever walk away with a par……hard to describe the reasons. Hidden water catches balls hit to the right, as a precision like tee shot needs to be hit toward the left center of the fairway. The green complex has a table on the front right that requires almost the shot of a lifetime to land and stop and provides a very steep uphill putts once the ball is deflected. A back left pin location is very hard to get to and perhaps harder to read the speed of the putt.
#16- This par 4 is straight ahead. A miss right here won’t hurt you but left is OB. Don’t be long in your approach shot as there is water behind the green. Hitting the middle of the green is a win for this hole. The green slopes fairly severely from left to right so missing this green left will leave a difficult pitch.
#17-This short and straight par 4 is just that. You can reach it in one but water does come up close to the green on the right. The front left, green side bunker is a good aiming point off the tee for laying up or going for it. This hole offers the best chance at an eagle putt provided you hit a quality drive off the tee.
#18-The finishing hole is a par 5. With water down the right and a tight tree line down the left. A good tee shot is crucial for any chance at reaching this green with your second shot. Even then this is a tough hole to reach in two. The green itself has a bunker guarding in front and water wrapped around the back side. Any shot that is hit slightly left of this green will end up in the water so miss a little right if you can and let the slope of the green bring the ball back.
