NIT Competition Format
* Should you have questions on the format, just hang tight. We promise it will be communicated in-depth on Thursday.
There will be two distinct competitions taking place:
- Individual Championship
-
Team Championship
At the welcome reception on Thursday evening, November 5th, we will divide the 96 golfers into 8 Flights (teams) of 12 golfers each. This will be done in a randomized manner without respect to handicap.
Individual Championship Format
Friday morning: 18 holes of Quota Game (pairings will be randomized across all Flights)
Friday afternoon: 18 holes of Quota Game (pairings will be randomized across all Flights)
Saturday morning: 18 holes of Quota Game (pairings will be determined off of Flight standings--for example, Flight ‘A’ 1st through 4th place will be paired together, 5th through 8th place paired together, 9th through 12th place paired together, and so on across all Flights)
Upon completion of Round 3, we will crown 8 Flight winners at Lunch on Saturday. This means everybody needs only be concerned up until this point with winning their respective Flight!
Saturday afternoon, CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND: 18 holes of Quota Game between the 8 Flight winners (previous scores will be wiped)
Note: For everybody’s entertainment (and monetary) purposes, we will be operating an optional parimutuel betting service whereby people can place bets on whomever they want for the Championship Round. Bring cash if you want to participate!
Team Championship Format
The 8 Flights will serve as our 8 teams. So while you are competing against your fellow flight members for the Individual Championship, you will be competing WITH your Flight members for the Team Championship.
A Team Champion will be crowned at Lunch after the completion of Saturday morning’s Round 3. We will use aggregate Quota points for each Flight to determine the winning Team. This means that even though you might not have a shot at winning your Flight on an individual basis Saturday morning, you may still have a lot to play for on a Team basis!
Prizes
We have some very special prizes for our 8 Flight winners, our Individual Champion, and our 12 Team Champions. We don’t want to spoil the surprise, though, so you’ll have to wait and see what these are.
YES, a member of the No Laying Up crew can win the NIT!
